<p>Our dancing Queen, Nancy A. (Sherman) Darling, 84, of Church Street, Keeseville, who loved to be called Nana by her family, departed her loving family on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at the UVM Health Network – CVPH, Plattsburgh with her loved ones by her side.</p><p><br></p><p>She was born in Plattsburgh on November 30, 1937, the daughter of Thomas T. Sherman, Sr. and Pauline F. (McGee) Sherman. Nancy was a 1955 graduate of Peru Central School; Stepdaughter of Kenneth McGee.</p><p><br></p><p>Please know she made all of our lives better and was The BEST Mom to Darlene and Jeffrey Paul LaMountain and Susan Darling.</p><p><br></p><p>She was known as Nana to Christopher and Molly LaMountain, Andrea and Jason Buesser, and Matthew LaMountain; and Heath Blaise, Brian Blaise, and Megan Blaise.</p><p><br></p><p>Her PRIDE and JOY were her great grandchildren, Abigail, Kaleb, Scott, Annika, Olivia, Riley, and Grace in Keeseville, and Kobe, Tyrell, and Zarainia in Florida. She loved to attend their sporting events, musicals, and concerts.</p><p><br></p><p>Nancy was a sister to Thomas Sherman who she missed so much; he went to heaven on November 22, 2006. His wife, Ellen Sherman, was like her own sister, and she was Aunt Nancy to Lisa Gonyo and Tomma Licourt; also to nieces and nephews with the father of her daughters, Richard Darling. Nancy was cousin to Paul, Bob, Sylvia, Cynthia, Mitch, John and Matt.</p><p><br></p><p>She also had a special spot in her heart for Abi and K’s dad, Adam Walton, and Olivia and Grace’s mom, Kasey Durocher; as well as Marshall Turner, Abigail’s boyfriend.</p><p><br></p><p>Known as Mrs. “D” to her AuSable Valley students where she was a Guidance Secretary for 30 years; Cheerleader advisor for many years; the first bowling team coach; and Ticket Coordinator for the school musicals, Nancy was a true AVCS legend!</p><p><br></p><p>Nancy was the NYSW 600 bowling club Sergeant at Arms as well as a Hall of Fame member (inducted 2008). She was the Essex County board of elections official for many years; and a youth bowling coach and secretary to the Keeseville Women’s Bowling Association. Nancy loved her bowling trips as well as country music concerts, casinos, and BINGO! She was a member of the Keeseville and AuSable Forks Senior Citizens Club acting as their trip and activity coordinator; and, the absolute very best bingo caller at the K of C in Keeseville.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, September 22, 2022 from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A Funeral Service will be held in the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel at 1 PM. Burial will follow in the Port Douglas Cemetery. A gathering to celebrate Nancy’s life will be held at the Keeseville Elk’s Lodge following the Burial.</p><p><br></p><p>Nancy’s family would like to thank the CVPH staff on R5 for the most wonderful care they gave her. </p><p><br></p><p>Donations in memory of Nancy Ann Darling may be made to the AVCS Booster Club/bowling team.</p><p><br></p><p>Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru, 643-9055. </p><p><br></p><p><br></p>
