For the first in our Icon Series, we look towards The Talented Mr Ripley (1999); instantly conjuring effortless Italian coastal cool, sun-bleached days followed hazy nights. After years of watching and re-watching this film it was only a matter of time before we took what we knew of these knit shirts and made them a reality.
Every detail - the weave, buttons, colours and the all important collars - has been fastidiously analysed to re-imagine these two seminal knit shirts worn by Jude Law's character, Dickie Greenleaf in the cult piece. We're in the scorching hot town of Anzio, shading ourselves under the parasols of the piazza. This is the closest you'll get to the pieces you see on screen.
Made in Milan, Italy, using a fine-gauge 100% Merino wool the crisp white body has blue/grey textured front panels which are set between strong striped details. Every detail, weave, button, colour and the all important collars have been fastidiously analysed to create 'knit-nerd' accurate pieces.
SIZING
For those of you who know SFC already, the fit of the Ripley Ischia knit is the similar to our Lido shirts. It has a slightly wider fit as standard, with a body length to hit you on or around your hip, perfect when worn with mid to higher waist trousers/shorts - please review our size chart for more information and please allow a tolerance or stretch and movement for a knitted garment.
It's important remember when reviewing the size chart (above) that knitwear is a garment that has stretch and movement in it. There's no need to scrutinise every number on the chart, as you may normally do with a fixed/rigid fabric, such as cotton shirting. When measuring pieces, please understand the nature of the knit material and where possible we aim to take exact dimensions, a degree of tolerance must be considered with the stretch etc. Order for your chest size.
STYLING No need to tuck the shirt too, with a straight hem and waistband, the length of the Ripley Ischia is ideal when worn relaxed over shorts or trousers. Why not pair it with a pair of our higher waisted trousers or shorts.
